Throwing back in the hammock, watching gentle waves, basking in the rays of the Vietnamese Sun, you may be surprised why so many people still do not know about the island of Fukuok. Of course, because it is not so discussed in the press as Thailand Islands, and maybe it will not even offer you in a travel agency in which you contact before starting vacation.
But in vain will not be offered - with wild jungle, creaky snow-white sand and clean water of azure color, this island is 600 sq. Km. More than suitable under the picture of the paradise corner, which you probably drew in my head.
Located this island, which is in its form resembles South America, 65 kilometers from the south-west coast of Vietnam and only 15 kilometers from the shores of Cambodia, which, by the way, once owned by this paradise Sushi piece.
Although the continuous beach line (120 kilometers) stretches almost all over the entire length of the west coast of the island, only a small part of the beaches - prepared for leisure of tourists. That is, the island, you can say half-wild.
Those who have repeatedly visited the islands in Southeast Asia (which themselves are simply amazing), it will still be impressed with Fukuchok. The combination of isolated and deserted beaches and prosperous, small, but still the purest and pasty chief town of Dong Dong makes Fukuok really rare find.
Considering the ease of access (20 minutes of flight from Ratza or at a time of summer from Saigon, but it is also possible on a ferry from Ratza or Hon Chong - also relative to long), this amazing island remains not so developed and, you can say untouched. However, the Government of Vietnam has huge plans for island, want to make it a tourist talom corner with many hotels and entertainment centers. While these plans remain unrealized, and hopefully, will remain exclusively on paper in the foreseeable future.
On the island there is something for everyone - and this is true! Surrounded by more than a dozen bays and beaches, with yellow sand and strips of dazzling white sand, with a husky of small islets at the southern coast (which are simply wonderful, especially for diving), with wet jungle and several fishing villages - in general, on the island there are plenty of beautiful places, who will make you regret that your vacation is not endless.
The best beach, according to many - Long Beach, Long Beach on the West Bank of the island. With several bars, it is comfortable and at the same time rather quiet. And the endless one.
True, sand is slightly rougher there, but it does not upset this at all. And also, this empty beach can be a little dirty with garbage, which brings the sea - but these are not banks-flask paper, but a typical "sea" garbage and algae, although sometimes swims a pair of plastic bottles. But basically, the water is very clean here, very warm and calm, especially in the morning.
In the south of the island you will find Sao Beach - a magnificent beach with small white sand, calm waters. The people there, oddly enough, little, despite the massive restaurants. True, it is not very convenient to get to Sao Beach because of bad roads, so that a pathetic 30 kilometers can become solid torment.
Ong Lang Beach Beach on the West Bank - very secluded and romantic. There are a pair of seafood restaurants, and a couple of bungalow- right romantic boutique! Moreover, the bungalow stand on a gentle hill, and a coconut grove spread nearby. Just a few minutes walk, and you will find BO Resort, after which there is a 5-kilometer empty beach, without a single bungalow or bar, and most often without people.
Options for accommodation on Fukuchok cover a full range for all budgets. From the Gasthaus for backpackers to rather unusual and beach resorts and hotels. But luxury hotels, what you may expect you will not find here and you will not find. But it is not necessary - with such beauty of nature!
It is also worth noting that the tourist infrastructure here is also so-so, for example, there is no ideal service, the roads are also not perfect. Beaches here, though paradise, but in some places the entrance to the sea is simply unbearable. From sports class - diving and snorkeling (there is diving centers), but the rest of the species are somehow not particularly developed.
Well, lying on the beach and relax to the tips of the hair is the best place, and it can be done almost all year round, except, with the exception of October, when the rainy season begins. And still on the island, they are not collapsed by the tsunami, there are no strong waves and sharks (if someone is careful in the first place). So, most of the guests arriving on the island do not do anything other than the daily path: Bungalow-Bungalow-Beach-Bungalow-Bungalow - and so on to the end of vacation. Unlike Thailand, accommodation options here are a few other standard. There is little bungalow as such, but mostly the kpyrpic-stone chalets and something like that. Well, hotels more. Sometimes it is quite difficult to book a room, but in the rainy season there will be no problems.
If you do not want to be lazy, rent a motorcycle and map - there is something to explore and than admire. I recommend going to the southern edge of the city - the beaches there are the best!
Some beaches are private and owned by hotels, the rest are free to visit. And you can also call for the plantation of the sea pearl - on the joy of ladies.
About how the pearl grows in the sink - there they will show you clearly, and all this is very impressive. You can buy something at the same time, however, do not count on low prices.
Also, unlike the islands of Thailand, there is a very limited choice of bars and clubs on Fukuok. There are a couple of places where you can drink beer in the evening - at night, but with predicable probability, you will sit alone.
In general, the pluses of the island are aversion set: excellent climate, luxurious secluded beaches, few tourists, inexpensive accommodation, romantic species. The best place for newlyweds on the honeymoon, perhaps! And what photos will turn out!
The most active tourists leave Fukuchka for dessert - as the ultimate stop in Vietnam before leaving home, and then upset that a couple of nights on the island are simply not enough. So, make sure in advance that you can afford to spend enough time on Fukuok.
